Bio

Michael Storrings is an award-winning illustrator, designer, and art director who lives and works in New York City. For the last four years, he has been creating products for the home that capture the special essence of seasons and cities.

Since graduating from Parsons School of Design in 1986, Michael has been working in the publishing field. He is the recipient of awards from the American Institute of Graphic Artists, the Art Directors Club, the Society of Illustrators, Print Magazine, the New York Book Show, and he has the distinction of winning the very first Edgar Award for cover design.

Michael has designed book jackets for such best-selling authors as Jeffrey Archer, Dr. Robert Atkins, Jackie Collins, Joseph Finder, Emily Giffin, Kristin Hannah, Robert Ludlum, and Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, as well as for celebrity authors Cindy Adams, Delta Burke, Emme, and Rodney Yee. In addition, he has created illustrations for book covers, magazine and newspaper articles, brochures, and banners, and his work is licensed on ornaments, tableware, apparel, stationery, and art prints.

In his city-themed ornaments,* Michael captures the magic of New York, Chicago, San Francisco, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Boston, and Miami. These widely collected ornaments are sold nationwide and abroad through select retail stores and online; and they have been featured in such publications as Town & Country, Country Living, Where New York, Where New Orleans, Out, Cigar Aficionado, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Bergen Record, and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Michael Storrings's first book of watercolors, A Very New York Christmas, will be published in the fall of 2008 by St. Martins Press.
